Dougie Lampkin

No introduction is necessary with this man.  He’s a living legend with an incredible seven straight World Trials Championships gained between the years 1997 to 2003 – and he certainly hasn’t given up hope of adding an eighth.

Not only is Doug the only rider who has competed at every single Sheffield Indoor since it began with a sell-out back in 1996, but he is also the sole survivor of the 2000 event.

In this event he faced fellow Brits Steve Colley and Graham Jarvis, plus Spaniards Marc Colomer, Amos Bilbao, and Marcel Justribo as well as the Wild card, Martin Crosswaite (son of Avondale’s Neil Crosswaite).

Colomer and Bilbao have since retired from World Championship competition, with Amos now working as Dougie’s minder.

Winner in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 200, 2001, 2002 and 2004 – what a record!  One thing everybody knows – never under-estimate Dougie.  Come on Doug, one more victory and we’ll all go home happy. He nearly won again in 2006 with a stunning effort - CAN HE DO IT AGAIN TONIGHT?

Whatever the outcome on the night, no-one is assured of a warmer welcome than Dougie Lampkin – King of Sheffield!
