Takahisa Fujinami In Action |
Fuji is one of the great crowd pleasers and is sure to receive a here’s welcome on the night. Takahisa is proud to represent Japan and has close ties with the Honda factory which owns the Montesa concern. In Japan, the Montesa 4RT is actually marketed as Honda, although this is the only country in the World where this is the case. In the past, Fujigas, as he is known (although the strict meaning of this is not really the case any more), was an exponent of the rev-it and hang-on style of riding. |

Fuji has now developed into a much more scientific rider and he is no longer the rev-and-go terror of old. No-one who wins a World Trials Championship, as Fuji did in 2004, does it by hitting and hoping. Despite his fierce competitive spirit outdoors, Fuji never really took the Indoor Trials seriously, often playing to the crowd as he finished sixth and fifth in 2002/2003, although he moved up a gear in 2004 to finish runner-up to Raga. However, in 2005 Fuji suffered with the new 4 stroke, and both he and Dougie battled with the new machine. In the 2006 Outdoor season with the bike finally sorted, Fuji finished a fantastic runner-up to Raga. In 2007 Fugi Finished a fine 3rd in the world outdoor series. With his confidence now renewed we can look forward to some indoor fireworks from Fuji on his now competitive mount. |
